Generally, I am not a follower of most trends. Something about doing what every one else deems cool has never set well with me. If we're all individuals, then what's the point of playing clones to fit in? *shrugs* So, for a while now I've been so upset with hairstyles. I've tried big, curly, outrageous hair, short cuts, pricey extensions, etc. All and all, I'm never very pleased with it in the long run. I guess you could say, well why not just go natural? Been there done that. And the process of straightening my hair so often was just out of control. I loved the afro for a spell, but change is something I crave. Oh, and technically I am natural. No relaxers over here. While I do appreciate my real hair, I do enjoy the versatility of extensions.

Getting to the point...

My sister and I were joking about a month ago after watching Poetic Justice. I told her that I was going to bring back the Janet braids from the movie. Little did I know that ladies were already on it! I did a quick search to find out how to maintain the braids, which hair to use, you know, all that good stuff. And I stumbled across eclectic, stylish, beautiful women looking super dope with the box braids. Apparently, they have been on the comeback for a minute now. I'm thinking we all have Solange to thank for this since she is the most popular celebrity figure that I've seen embracing the trend. With that said, I've scheduled an appointment to get my hair braided and I'm very excited. With each new hairstyle, I love to think of new, exciting makeup techniques. And I definitely feel an evolution coming on with this one....
